BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

 

SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA

NOVEMBER 28, 2006

 

     The following is a non-verbatim transcript of the BOARD OF COUNTY COMMISSIONERS MEETING OF SEMINOLE COUNTY, FLORIDA, held at 9:30 a.m., on Tuesday, November 28, 2006, in the SEMINOLE COUNTY SERVICES BUILDING at SANFORD, FLORIDA, the usual place of meeting of said Board. 

     Present:

     Commissioner-Elect Carlton Henley (District 4)

     Vice Chairman Bob Dallari (District 1)

     Commissioner Brenda Carey (District 5)

     Commissioner-Elect Mike McLean (District 2)

     Commissioner Dick Van Der Weide (District 3)

     County Manager Cindy Coto

     County Attorney Robert McMillan

     Deputy Clerk Sandy McCann

 

     Presentation of the Colors was done by Seminole County Sheriff’s Office and the Seminole County Fire Department. 

     Commissioner Dallari led the Pledge of Allegiance.    

     Dr. David Medley gave the Invocation. 

SEATING OF SEMINOLE COUNTY COMMISSIONERS

     Commissioner-Elect Mike McLean came forward to be sworn in.  He was joined by his wife and daughter. 

     The Honorable Judge Donna McIntosh administered the Oath of Office to Commissioner McLean. 

     Commissioner McLean expressed his thanks to Judge McIntosh for her time serving as Lake Mary City Attorney and for serving on the bench.  He congratulated Carlton Henley on his re-election and expressed appreciation to outgoing Commissioner Randy Morris. 


 

     Commissioner-Elect Carlton Henley came forward to be sworn in.  He was joined by his wife. 

     The Honorable Judge Donna McIntosh administered the Oath of Office to Commissioner Henley. 

     Commissioner Henley introduced his wife, advising they will be celebrating their 50th Anniversary in March.  He expressed his appreciation for the opportunity to serve another four years. 

     Commissioner McLean thanked his wife of 16 years and his daughters. 

REORGANIZATION OF THE BOARD 2006/2007

     The gavel was surrendered to County Attorney, Robert McMillan, to act as temporary Chairman to the BCC.  He opened the floor for nominations for the Chairman of the BCC. 

     Commissioner Dallari nominated Commissioner Carlton Henley for Chairman of the BCC for 2006/2007. 

     Motion by Commissioner Van Der Weide, seconded by Commissioner Carey to close the nominations for Chairman of the BCC. 

     Districts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 voted AYE. 

     Mr. McMillan advised Commissioner Henley has been elected Chairman of the BCC for 2006/2007. 

     The gavel was surrendered to Chairman Henley. 

     Chairman Henley opened the floor for nominations for Vice Chairman of the BCC for 2006/2007. 

     Commissioner Dallari nominated Commissioner Carey for Vice Chairman of the BCC for 2006/2007. 

     Motion by Commissioner Van Der Weide, seconded by Commissioner Dallari to close nominations for Vice Chairman of the BCC for 2006/2007. 

     Districts 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 voted AYE. 

     Chairman Henley announced that Commissioner Carey has been elected Vice Chairman of the BCC for 2006/2007. 

     Chairman Henley stated he appreciates the opportunity to serve in the capacity of chairman.  He said the citizens have elected all five of them to serve Seminole County and there will be challenges ahead for them to work through as a body.  He asked that all respect each other.

     There being no further business to come before the Board, the Chairman adjourned the meeting at 9:50 a.m., this same date.
